I was commissioned to create the launch film for the new logo of FC Bayern Munich Basketball. Filled with dynamic motion graphics, the film takes you on a ride through the club's heritage, starting in 1946 all the way to present - and even future with the upcoming new arena: The SAP Garden. It highlights many wonderful key moments in Bayern Munich's long history of Basketball. Working together with Kays Khalil, we took great pride in creating this very special project.
It ends with the reveal of the new FC Bayern Munich Basketball logo. It has been redesigned for the first time since 2008 and it's more in line with the overall brand and the well established FC Bayern Munich logo.
This project was a very special one for me as I love the game of Basketball: I have been playing Basketball for 30 years and my first ever "commercial" project in 1999 was to design the logo of USC Heidelberg - the city I grew up in. Ironically FC Bayern Munich and USC Heidelberg both have a deep (Basketball) history and in fact the oldest footage I received from the archives was with exactly those two teams playing against each other in 1966!

The new logo was supplied as an Adobe Illustrator file which was taken into Cinema 4D for shading, lighting and animation. Everything was rendered with Redshift in 4K.
A few close-up test renderings created during the shading process.

Additionally a show package with multiple intros, bumpers and transitions was designed and animated. They are used in-game on the giant LED panels above the court in the Audi Dome in Munich. All elements are a mix of pre-rendered graphics as well as custom-made highly adjustable type animation.
